About

The West Virginia Alumni Orchestra performed its final concert of their 9th European tour at Brežice Museum.

The 50 musicians had been planning their tour since 2020 and with the shifts of weekdays throughout the past 3 days, the orchestra members were surprised with an additional day to fill with a fun and exciting programme.

Their 9th European tour final concert ended with an open air performance in the beautiful courtyard of Brežice Castle.

The Americans have a lot of spirited and lively music in their musical baggage. Thus from Mozart over Copland, Vinko Struci up to the highlight "the Thunderer" of John Philipp Sousa a soundful arch is stretched.

Opening the concert was a brass duo from the music and social project, Music For The Future, a project that was established within a week of the Russian invasion into Ukraine in March 2022 and over the course of 6 months, managed to evacuate a total of 146 Ukrainian youth musicians and their families to Slovenia, providing them with first aid, accommodation, sustenance, general education and music education which includes: music school, rehearsals and concert performances within the framework of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra’s programme, and breathtaking art.
